In the region of Oceania the two most prolific countries where players love to play games are Australia and New Zealand. You have access to many different casinos across different states and cities and there are even more that are developing. Here are the four new casinos that are coming to Australia and New Zealand which have been in the news lately.
The ambitious Queen’s Wharf construction project is looking to revitalise the CBD, spending hundreds of millions of dollars in developing the area. The final stage of construction isn’t expected to be completed until 2022. It also sees the current Treasury Casino being turned into a Ritz Carlton hotel, implying the new casino intends to be far superior.
Construction has all set to begin after the government’s new executive building at One William Street is completed, allowing necessary demolition of several existing buildings to begin. It will completely reshape the area from George Street to the river, with the proposal stretching 10 blocks across the far end of the city from Queen Street to Alice Street. This will generate some 3000 jobs, and 8000 permanent jobs upon its completion and Queensland is predicted to see an influx of 1.39 million additional tourists each year.
The development includes a new lyric theatre at QPAC and a pedestrian bridge to link to South Bank. Echo’s group property development director Josef Seidler said the bridge proposal is designed to convey a “single, beautiful, swanlike element”.The development will see five new hotels (three of six-star rating), three new residential towers, and 50 restaurants and bars fully accessible to the public.
Echo’s plans include a Sky Deck area that will feature outdoor restaurants on the 25th floor, a glass floor observation deck and a Botanic Gardens observation deck. The Treasury building will be transformed into a six-star boutique hotel, boasting two levels of a high-end department store. New green spaces will aim to rejuvenate public areas. “The Landing” is set to be a South-Bank inspired area with 12 football fields of open space that will be able to cater for 26,000 people. The area will also play host to a nightly water and light show.
2. Crown Sydney
Crown Sydney is a six-star casino and hotel resort that is currently under construction in Barangaroo, Sydney, Australia. When it opens in 2020, it will be the second legal casino in Sydney the other being The Star. However, unlike The Star, Crown Sydney’s casino will only operate with VIP membership restrictions. With 75 floors (including mezzanines) and a height of 271.3 m (890 ft), it will become the city’s tallest building, surpassing Chifley Tower. The hotel is going to be a six-star affair, with 350 rooms and stunning infrastructure. The development is designed to draw wealthy Chinese tourists away from Macau’s casinos and instead to Australia – so locals may have little chance of visiting this luxury establishment.
In its expansion stage Jupiters Casino first opened in 1985 and lately celebrated its 30th birthday by beginning renovations to redevelop the casino. $345 million has been budgeted to spend on extending and refurbishing the iconic casino, which already draws significant numbers of visitors. The construction work is going to create a new tower, due for completion in 2018, that will provide 70 additional rooms. Soon they will have completed the refurbishment of their almost 600 rooms, unveiled six new food and beverage experiences including their highly acclaimed one-hat Japanese restaurant Kiyomi, and new luxury six-star tower will be taking shape at the front of the property in preparation for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Sky City is also underway to be transformed into a new casino in Auckland, which sits proudly at the base of the Sky Tower. Its 20-year anniversary in 2016 saw the development expand further, building a hotel and convention centre around the casino with the intention of contributing $700 million to the Auckland economy. The casino’s license has been extended until 2048, allowing guests who attend events at the new 4,000-person convention centre to be comfortably houses and close to their gaming needs. The SkyCity Hotel on Hobson Street is part of a massive complex that will include the Auckland Casino, Convention Centre, over 20 restaurants, a spa retreat and other exclusive amenities.
SkyCity’s major growth projects, being the International Convention Centre and Hobson St hotel, were on-budget and due to be completed in early 2019. A new Cantonese restaurant in Auckland would also open in June, and casino at Auckland, will be the biggest contributor that would deliver modest growth in coming years. The World Masters Games in April and the Lions rugby tour a few months later would bring thousands of people to the city and major events happening in the next six months here.
